What is the
United Partnership
for a Better Community?

The United Partnership for A Better Community was formed by a group of dedicated Wauconda community volunteers with the following mission statement: “To foster and coordinate partnerships designed to improve the quality of life in our communities”.

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital and the Wauconda Rotary Club were instrumental in forming the United Partnership for a Better Community in the fall of 2000. The Partnership has continued to thrive with additional volunteers and donations to support our ongoing efforts.   Some of the Partnership's accomplishments in recent years include:

• Provided community banners with a Wauconda Rotary Club grant to promote “First Class Community” Character program.
• Initiated Senior Coalition to form cohesiveness among various senior groups. This includes special monthly programs to meet their specific needs including a Senior Resource Directory.
• Hosted “Family Safety Day” in response to a need for bike safety as well as fire and home safety. This also included finger printing by the Police Dept
• Started a Cultural Diversity committee to identify needs of different groups and make sure they are aware of special services available to them.
• Initiatives to include more youth involvement in community activities.
• The updating, publication, and disbursement of a comprehensive Senior Resource Guide
• Promotion of the “First Class Community” through window clings and educational programs
• Development of a simplified resource directory, and magnets with emergency numbers in three languages. Plus, conduct a resident survey to identify the needs of our Polish and Spanish populations
• Implementation of a Hearts and Parks program to reduce obesity and heart disease
• Development of a community website:
www.unitedpartnership.org
